The Faculty of Law
Chairs and professorships
We are known throughout Germany for our excellent law programmes and courses. Personal supervision by professors, small tutorial groups and an outstanding law library are our hallmarks. The Faculty of Law has twenty chairs and three professorships. The 'chairs and professorships' page lists additional information about our professors, visiting lecturers, honorary members and emeritus professors.
Institutes and research centres
The faculty's five research institutes – the Centre for European Law (CEP), the Institute for International and Foreign Law, the Research Centre for Human Rights in Criminal Proceedings (HRCP), the Research Centre for IT Law and Internet Policy (For..Net) and the Institute for the Didactics of Law – produce excellent, wide-ranging research in the core subjects of civil, public and criminal law.
The Institute for the Didactics of Law, with three teaching professorships, provides our law students with free university preparatory courses for the state examination.
