Information for students from Passau
Juristische Universitätsprüfung and Introducción al Derecho Español/Grado en Derecho
Students from the University of Passau who complete their Foreign Law specialisation at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (the mark received amounts to 30% of the overall mark of the Erste Juristische Prüfung can additionally study the certificate programme Introducción al Derecho Español.
Having completed their specialisation in Germany, students from Passau subsequently have the opportunity to continue their degree programme in Spain for another year to earn the Grado en Derecho. The Grado en Derecho is the Spanish equivalent to the German Erste Juristische Prüfung.
This means students from Passau can reduce the duration of study for a full Spanish law degree to two years, if they have their German coursework recognised; in addition, one of these years studied abroad can be recognised as the Foreign Law specialisation for the German Universitätsprüfung.
Students choosing this path obtain with two full law degrees.
The basis for this is an agreement between the University of Passau and Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha dated 23 November 2004 as amended on 1 January 2010.
Information for students from Toledo
Students from Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha who complete the Certificate in Principles of German Law programme have the opportunity to gain a Master's degree from Passau following an additional year at the University of Passau.
Additionally, the two years of studies at the University of Passau counts towards their studies at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, allowing students from Toledo coming to Passau after their third year of studies to gain the Certificate in Principles of German Law, the German Master's degree and the Spanish Grado en Derecho following their two-year study in Germany, assuming they duly complete the required coursework.
